Getting ready to hit the road.

After 25 years of marriage, you’re always finding ways to spice up life. Jen and I have always loved to travel and now it’s time to hit the road in our RV to see everything America has to offer. In June, I retired after being a firefighter for 29 years and I’m ready to start the next chapter.

With the family celebrating the end of 29 years as a firefighter.

Five years ago, we bought our RV “Detour” and have taken a trip a year to visit the Southeast and it’s beaches. One thing we’ve always wanted to do is drive along Route 66 and the Pacific Coast Highway, now we finally get to do it.

Now in just a few short days we will be packing up everything we will need for the next 13 months to start our new journey. It will be just the two of us and our dogs (Dakota and Mikita) taking on America.

It’s so hard to figure out what you’re going to need 1 week from now let alone a year from now and Jen is freaking out. The RV is getting filled with photos of the family and finding ways to make it our home away from home.

Our journey will take us across Route 66 to see all the roadside attractions. Our first major stop will be Springfield, IL and then heading towards New Mexico for the hot air balloon festival and then finishing Route 66 at the Santa Monica Pier. We’ll then head up the Pacific Coast Highway, cross over into Vancouver and head up to Alaska and Banff, Canada.

We can’t wait to start this adventure and hope you follow us along. We’ll miss you all. See you next year!
